Be careful with words...be because once they are said, they can only be forgiven...not forgotten.
Remember that when you commit to an action, whether it be out of rage,
or out of logic, you can't take back what you have done.
Remember that life is about being able to appreciate even being exposed
to difficult life experiences. If a person isn't growing and experiencing
life, if a person is never even subjected to deciding between being mad,
or taking whatever they are going through in stride, a person isn't
experiencing life for all that its worth.
Those who choose to not see the bigger picture, and let whatever
emotions that they are going through determine their immediate action,
are those who are not destined for much good, and instead they are
destined for a few bad landings in life.
Remember that your emotions are there to help show you when a change
needs to be made, but your emotions should not always determine your
immediate actions.
Stop Being Blown Away by Passing Thoughts and Feelings…
' A tree has many leaves, and the wind touches all of them… in one way or another. Some
shake, some quiver, some hardly move at all. Yes, the tree knows their trembling; but neither
the wind, nor the leaves it stirs are the tree that feels their touch. Thoughts and feelings are
like leaves; learning to watch them wave is much better than being carried away with every
breeze.'
Learn the Power of a Quiet Mind -
When you want to directly enjoy the sunshine you must go outdoors. You understand you
have to take yourself physically to a place where the warming rays of the sun can fall upon
you without interference. Likewise, when you want to know the powers that circulate through
a quiet mind, you must take yourself to that place where this silent strength can make itself
known to you. To go quiet, you must go within.
To ensure your success in going within and going quiet, consider yourself as being a
naturalist of the mind. A good wildlife naturalist casually observes the diverse ways of birds or
bunnies without interfering. And that's what you must learn to do as you journey within: being
an impartial witness to the life of your own thoughts and feelings. Let them fly and hop around
within you without the slightest concern for their direction or character. Neither resist nor let
yourself be drawn into any of their attention-stealing antics.
Again, all you want to do is watch. Detached self-observation is your aim. Each time you
realize that you're no longer watching, but rather that you've been captured by a thought or
feeling and are being carried along by it, just quietly withdraw yourself from that temporary
psychic wave. Come back to the awareness of yourself in the present moment.
This is the heart and soul of going — and knowing — quiet. Let go, give up, go within, and
watch. And over and over again, bring your awareness of yourself back into the awareness of
the present moment.
Learn to watch and drop your own thoughts and feelings trying to tell you: "You should give
up this worthless, unproductive practice!" They don't want you to succeed and there's a good
reason why: They cannot dwell in that silent world you wish to enter, and that wishes to enter
you.
Slowly, subtly at first, but eventually even beyond your mind's protests, a new, deeper sense
of silence floods into you; filling your awareness with itself and, at the same time, with yet
another awareness that the source of this supreme stillness is arising out of your own being. It
washes everything out of its way. And so arrives a quiet mind.

It's not selfish to love yourself, take care of yourself, and to make your happiness a priority. It's necessary.
As humans sometimes it is easy to feel invincible, especially when the
bad habits that we give practice to everyday don't seem to affect us like
we are warned about.
One of the biggest killers to us all is stress. Stress is such a huge killer
because it messes with our body's different systems as a whole, and can
lead to things like heart attacks, stroke, and other diseases of the heart
and other major organs which will eventually result in failure.
Instead of worrying a life full of stress do your best to position yourself
in places of life that lead to minimal stress outcomes.
Sure, life is unpredictable, and there is much balance we need in our
lives in order to really live the healthy lives that we know we should live,
but dealing with preventing stress in your life can really be a big help,
and a good start to living a healthy life.

The past is where you learned the lesson. The future is where you apply the lesson. Don't give up in the middle
Choosing where you want to go in life is a result of a person deciding
that one day, they are not necessarily defined for the rest of their lives by
who they were in the past, and are instead judged by who they are now
and where they may be going in life. We have to continue to march on
and make ourselves the best person we can become.
There will be those who will doubt, and who will judge based off of who
we were before, and this can only be expected. If you remain adamant
and diligent in becoming the person that you want to become, and about
achieving the dreams that you want to achieve, everyone will soon
understand why you made the life changes you made. One must have a
firm faith in following God and everything he puts in our hearts and
actually act on the dreams and desires that run to the deepest core of us
and also knowing that everything else will fix itself over time.
Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful. Joshua J. Marine
If you don't make things happen in the present then when will you be the
catalyst to making a change to this world? There is no time like the
present time to get the ball rolling in your life, in order to seek to
become the best you. Though things may seem as if they are rough in
the moment, and starting now may seem like a scary investment, but life
isn't about the risks we take, or the failures or the victories.
It is about how much drive we have in us to keep going, to keep getting
back up after we have fallen, to keep taking risks after taking a risk may
have failed us, and to keep dreaming even though we may have achieved
some sort of success. Make your time now, tomorrow isn't a given for
anyone, and the opportunities that you have today are not guaranteed to
be in your life forever as well.
Sometimes people get the mistaken notion that spirituality is a separate department of life, the penthouse of existence. But rightly understood, it is a vital awareness that pervades all realms of our being
Spirituality, in a narrow sense, concerns itself with matters of the spirit. Spiritual
matters are those involving humankind's ultimate nature, not only as material biological
organisms, but as beings with a unique relationship to that which is beyond both time and
the material world. As such the spiritual is traditionally contrasted with the material, the
temporal and the worldly. A perceived sense of connection forms a central defining
characteristic of spirituality — connection to a metaphysical reality greater than oneself,
which may include an emotional experience of religious awe and reverence, or such states
as satori or Nirvana. Equally importantly, spirituality relates to matters of sanity and of
psychological health.
Spirituality is a tangible reality and not a common idealism in the trap of meditation or
fantasy. It is the way you find meaning, hope, comfort and inner peace in your life. Many people
find spirituality through religion. Some find it through music, art or a connection with nature.
Others find it in their values and principles. It includes all aspects of the daily life of the believer.
Each of us has a spirit and, therefore, a spiritual life, and we must be conscious about this fact. We
consider that spirituality is not directly related to our physical health, because it is not its target, but to the spiritual health, that is important for each of us.
How is spirituality related to health?
No one really knows for sure. However, it seems the body, mind and spirit are
connected. The health of any one of these elements seems to affect the health of the others.
Some research shows that things such as positive beliefs, comfort and strength gained from
religion, meditation and prayer can contribute to healing and a sense of well-being.
Improving your spiritual health may not cure an illness, but it may help you feel better,
prevent some health problems and help you cope with illness or death.
Doctors and scientists once avoided the study of spirituality in connection to medicine, but
findings within the past 10 years have made some take a second look. Studies show that
religion and faith can help to promote good health and fight disease by:
* offering additional social supports, such as religious outreach groups
* improving coping skills through prayer and a philosophy that all things have a purpose
Although research on children has yet to be done, a number of studies focusing on adults point to the positive effects of spirituality on medical outcome:
*In a 7-year study of senior citizens, religious involvement was associated with less
physical disability and less depression. Death rates were lower than expected before an
important religious holiday, which suggested to researchers that faith might have
postponed death in these cases.
* Elderly people who regularly attended religous services had healthier immune systems
than those who didn't. They were also more likely to have consistently lower blood
pressure.
* Patients undergoing open-heart surgery who received strength and comfort from their
religion were three times more likely to survive than those who had no religious ties.
Spirituality in the Context of Chronic Illness
Joel Tsevat, M.D., Director of Outcomes Research in the Department of Internal
Medicine at the University of Cincinnati, is completing a study of the will to live in patients
with HIV/AIDS. His team is using several standardized tools that measure different aspects
of spirituality, such as a sense of meaning and peace and faith, religious coping measures,
and involvement in organized and non-organized religious activity. They are also looking
at measures of health status, health concerns, depression, self-esteem, and social support.
The study involves interviews with 350 individuals with HIV/AIDS in Cincinnati and
Washington, D.C.
Dr. Tsevat became interested in studying spirituality during earlier research with
patients with HIV/AIDS. "Patients were telling us that they had discovered new meaning
and purpose in their lives since being diagnosed with HIV," Dr. Tsevat said. "The
spirituality theme emerged when we asked patients whether they would choose their
health as it is or take a gamble between death and perfect health." People who were
spiritual tended to be happier with their current health status and less likely to take the
described risk.
"We tend to focus just on what medical professionals can address--physical
functioning and mental health," said Dr. Tsevat. "In the scheme of things, I think spiritual
well-being is also an important component of someone's quality of life."
Spirituality, Immunity, and Emotional Well-Being
Several NCCAM-supported researchers in New York City are exploring the impact of
spirituality on the immune system and its role in emotional well-being among cancer
patients.
Barry Rosenfeld, Ph.D., and graduate student Colleen McClain, M.A., of Fordham
University, and William Breitbart, M.D., of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center,
published results in 2003 of an NCCAM-funded study on the effect of spiritual well-being on
end-of-life despair in terminally ill cancer patients. They concluded that spiritual well-being
offers some protection--a buffer effect--against end-of-life despair in patients for whom
death is imminent. These researchers are now studying spirituality-based interventions to
establish methods that can help engender a sense of peace and meaning.
"When people despair, they feel nothing they've done has had any meaning. We
help them remember things they've forgotten during the throes of their illness so they can
realistically place themselves in the world," Dr. Rosenfeld said. The approach is spiritually
based, he said, but "we have tried to not have it linked to any particular religious
framework, keeping it open to as many individuals who are interested."
To determine whether immune function is a link between spirituality and
emotional well-being, the three researchers are also now collaborating, under another
NCCAM grant, to measure spirituality and interleukin-6 (IL-6) levels in the blood among
terminally ill cancer patients. "There is a small, but growing, body of literature linking
immune function to mood, and IL-6 is the immune marker most highly correlated with
mood states," Dr. Rosenfeld said. IL-6 is a protein that acts on other cells to regulate
immune system function. It is one of several markers of inflammation, an important
process in a variety of diseases like heart disease, diabetes, and stroke, and is associated
with increased stress and depression.
Spirituality and Mental Health
Religious and spiritual beliefs are an important part of how many people deal with
life's joys and hardships. Faith can provide people with a sense of purpose and guidelines
for living. When families face tough situations, including health problems, their religious
beliefs and practices can help them fight feelings of helplessness, restore meaning and
order to life situations, and promote regaining a sense of control. For some families,
spirituality can be a powerful and important source of strength.
Medical studies have confirmed that spirituality can have a profound effect on mental states. In a study of men who were hospitalized, nearly half rated religion as helpful in coping with their illness. A second study showed that the more religious patients were, the more quickly they recovered from some disorders. A third study revealed that high levels of hope and optimism, key
factors in fighting depression were found among those who strictly practiced their religion.
How can I improve my spiritual health?
If you want to improve your spiritual health, you may want to try the following
ideas. Remember, though, that everyone is different, so what works for others may not
work for you. Do what is comfortable for you.
* Identify the things in your life that give you a sense of inner peace, comfort, strength,
love and connection.
* Set aside time every day to do the things that help you spiritually. These may include
doing community service or volunteer work, praying, meditating, singing devotional
songs, reading inspirational books, taking nature walks, having quiet time for thinking,
doing yoga, playing a sport or attending religious services.
( Sometimes people get the mistaken notion that spirituality is a separate department
of life, the penthouse of existence. But rightly understood, it is a vital awareness that pervades
all realms of our being )
“If you don’t control you mind, someone else will” – John Allston
There are many different ways to hone personal spirituality. Most if not all major
organized religions have a certain dogma they present to be followed. The deeper I
looked into religion, the more systems of control I found. You need not follow any
form of organized religion, or preset rules to live a good life and to be a good
person. On the other hand you do not need to coin yourself an atheist in order to
balance out the crowd. Between the extremes you can find alternative sources to
communicate with the divine, or just yourself. For thousands of years across the
globe our ancestors have figured out different ways to connect to something deeper
than our normal consciousness (altered states if you will). Simply focusing on a
few deep breaths to gain composure in a stressful situation, Daily meditation
practice to hone the mind and alleviate the “monkey mind” chatter of daily life,
prayer to a higher power of any sort to express gratitude for the life that we have
been given, or even visualization of things coming up in life that one wants to
move towards. There are also more advanced techniques to explore if one is so
inclined to. Dream recall from the subconscious can be a powerful tool to analyze
what is happening under the surface of the conscious mind. One can also train
themselves to Lucid dream (know that you are dreaming in a dream) this can help
empower the dreamer to take control of a nightmare and resolve constant
background issues, or simply wander around the dreamworld doing things that just
are not possible in the waking world. Yoga and Martial arts to me are a form of
moving meditation of different speeds. They can bring the mind/body/spirit
together to create a better you. Psychedelics and plant teachers are one of the most
powerful forms of these technologies and can crumble down walls you never knew
existed. They can show one how the ego really controls the vehicle, and
simultaneously crumble that ego. Some of the insights can be felt for the remainder
of one’s life, and can ease the passing of death. It can be quite humbling, and is not
for the faint of heart. What all these spiritual technologies have in common is they
take away the day to day noise and leave you there to experience what is right
there all along… a sense of peace and oneness. This is not some “pie in the sky”
idea. There is evidence to support all these mentioned. Just so we are clear… if you
are in for a trip you are in for a wild ride. This is your life. You are in control of
your own dogma. Graham Hancock stated “If we are not sovereign over our own
consciousness, then actually we are not sovereign over anything”. I recommend
you do your own research before jumping in. You don’t have to be a priest or a
monk to communicate with the divine, we all have the power. Choose you own
adventure(s), and choose wisely.
Choosing to be positive and having a grateful attitude is going to determine how you're going to live your life. - Joel Osteen
Looking at life in a positive light isn't always the easiest thing to do,
especially when we experience times in life that it seems life has all of its
chips stacked against us. Looking at life positively is the key to gaining
anything in a life that can easily mean nothing if we let it. Don't look at
your weaknesses as hindrances to any goals or dreams you have in life,
instead look at your weaknesses as stepping-stones so that you may
dream for and reach for new, greater heights on top of the dreams of old.
Dont look at the things that you lack in life as the common denominator
to failure in your life thus far, look at the equation differently and try to
achieve despite the things you may lack. Looking at life positively helps
to build character, and eventually if done with great care will lead to a
person living a positive life full of success.
If you aren't good…
A code…
A Code of Honor: Never approach a friend's girlfriend or wife with mischief as your goal. There are just too many women in the world to justify that sort of dishonorable behavior. Unless she's really attractive.
Let men tremble…
Let men tremble to win the hand of woman, unless they win along with it the utmost passion of her heart! Else it may be their miserable fortune, when some mightier touch than their own may have awakened all her sensibilities, to be reproached even for the calm content, the marble image of happiness, which they will have imposed upon her as the warm reality.
